Standing Together
"She's a Palestinian and I'm Jewish, but the only home we both have is the same home."
I was so inspired by this powerful insight from the New York Times article, “Israeli and Palestinian Activists Ask Americans to Take Side of Peace” about Sally Abed and Alon-Lee Green (Nov. 17, 2023).
Sally and Alon-Lee are the brave leaders of Standing Together, an organization that works for peace between Israel and Palestinians. My opening quote is from Alon-Lee Green, who is a Jewish Israeli. The two activists recently traveled from Israel to the US and have discovered a polarization about Gaza so intense that it might be described as a new war zone. How do we move beyond this either/or mindset?
Like Abed and Green, I believe in working together for a more just and equal future.
I believe that indifference to the suffering of the other side is eroding our humanity.
I believe that we must hold space for multiple truths at the same time.
I believe that peace, security, and full equality and dignity for all is possible if we stand together and end the violence.
🕊 My work focuses on bridge-building, cultural humility, and shared humanity. Antisemitism and navigating difficult conversations are two of my signature speaking topics. If I can help you, your organization, or university, please reach out!
