Standing With Transgender Service Members

Transgender soldiers swore to defend a Constitution that promises equal protection under the law. They deserve that protection too.

Under the Trump administration's new policy, transgender military service members must voluntarily leave by June 6 or they will be actively tracked down and forced out of the armed services "for national security interests."

Like Jim Crow laws that segregated Black Americans from white institutions or Don't Ask Don't Tell, which prohibited gay, lesbian, and bisexual military personnel from serving openly from 1993-2011, this anti-trans policy relies on false premises that:

🇺🇸 Difference is dangerous.
🇺🇸 Visibility disrupts cohesion.
🇺🇸 Equality and dignity can be denied to those risking their lives in service of a country that does not fully recognize their humanity.

No one should have to hide in order to serve their country. And no institution that claims to defend democracy can afford to exclude and erase the people who embody its deepest values.

To transgender and nonbinary soldiers: We see your service, we honor your sacrifice, and we will not let you be erased.
